Francesco Smarra received his Bachelor of Engineering degree and Master of Engineering degree (summa cum laude) in Control Systems and Computer Science, from the University of L'Aquila (Italy), in July 2008 and October 2010, respectively. From July 2010 to September 2010 he was a visiting scholar at the University of Glasgow where he worked on robotic for his Master Thesis. Since December 2010 he is a Ph. D. student at Università degli Studi dell'Aquila and his research interests are modeling and control of networked systems and building automation. From August 2012 to February 2013 he has been a visiting Ph.D. student at the MPC lab in the Mechanical Engineering Department of University of California at Berkeley.
